I just stared as Anne applied finishing touches to my look. I wasn’t sure how a lipstick would help me with my job interview, but I let her do her thing on me. Once she was done with me and brought the mirror in front of my eyes, I couldn’t take my eyes off the vision I was looking at.
“Tracy, what do you think?” she asked gently.
“Anne, I… I… how…did you just call me Tracy?” I stammered as I tried and failed to take my eyes off my reflection. “I can’t believe this is me.” A sudden thought popped into my head. “Oh shit! How am I going to cover this up? What the fuck is this lipstick? I look like a bimbo, and you totally shaped my eyebrows and my hair? These extensions? I’m supposed to have that job interview tomorrow!”
Anne gently looked at me. “Now Tracy, you haven’t had a successful interview in over six months. You’re down to trying to get what is basically a secretary position. Now I think this look will give you the edge you’ve been looking for.”
I knew she was right. The jobs I’d been passed over for lately have all been given to women. Good-looking ones too.
“Now hang out here and I’m going to get your outfit for the interview. I’ll be right back” she said as she left my bedroom.
I looked back at my reflection and was again captivated by the beauty staring back at me. Slowly a smile crept onto my stunning face. Maybe this will work. What could possibly go wrong?
